The well-known Nostradamus predictions concerning Louis Pasteur, and the World Trade Center disaster in New York City, are not the only prophecies that have been accurately translated by Nostradamus fans. Here are some Nostradamus quatrains from Chapter 4 of the Centuries that have also been linked to real historical events:
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #4-18
Due to many letters condemning the purveyors of the stars,

They will be reproved by ignorant royalty;

Punished by Edict, chased down like criminals,

Under the new reign of King Henry IV of France, the Protestants began a purge of French astrologers. The methods used by those performing these purges were not unlike those of the Catholic Inquisitors before them, who also hunted down and killed anyone they feared, or anyone who threatened their absolute religious authority.

Through Salon, Mansol, and Tarascon to the arch of Sixtus,

Pope Sixtus V receives the Protestant Prince of Denmark and political representatives from England and Holland at Rome (see Q.#6-41) where he has built a pyramid to replace an ancient Roman monument. Sixtus is of Byzantine blood and has replaced many Roman holy sites with his own favorite Egyptian monuments such as obelisks and pyramids. This reception in Rome was accompanied by much pomp, ceremony, and pageantry, and took place at great expense, but the event was not productive in mending the great rift that had developed between the Protestant churches and the Roman Catholic Church.
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #4-54
Of a name not ever in the future held by a french King,
Du nom qui onques ne fut au Roy galois,
Never again a destroyer so fearful;
Jamais ne fut un fouldre si craintif;
He will shake up the Italians, the Spanish & the English.

In this quatrain Nostradamus tells us about the emperor Napoleon Buonaparte (see Q.#8-1), who holds the title of "First Consul" of France, a title never again held by a french King. Never in history had anyone conquered more land, killed more people, or created more destruction than Napoleon. When this young militarist was crowned emperor of France, there was enormous fear in Italy, Spain and England that war was on the horizon. There was however, one person to whom Napoleon was a complete slave, and that was his empress Josephine, a foreigner (Creole), who mentally tortured Napoleon throughout their long and tumultuous relationship.

After the victory of his raving speech,

His spirit now tempered with tranquility & repose,

While Adolf Hitler was performing his wild and passionate speeches for the German people, the smell of roasting human flesh was drifting over the German countryside from prison camps at Auschwitz and elsewhere. Hitler's speeches often left him completely exhausted, but extremely self-satisfied. After all, he was pursuing his idealistic dream for the German people of creating a perfect human society, unfettered by the "genetically inferior" members of the "lower races" of Europe. When Hitler's deeds were finally exposed to public view, it was almost beyond belief to realize that the German people had willingly followed this false messiah down the path to Hecatombe.
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #4-60
The seven children are left as hostages,
Les sept enfans en hostaige laisses,
The tiers will come to murder her child;
Les tiers viendra son enfant trucider;
Two, because of her son, will be pierced by the dagger,
Deux par son filz feront d'estoc perces,
Genoa and Florence will come apart.
Gennes, Florence lors viendra escunder.

This quatrain refers to the fate of the seven children of the French queen Catherine de Medici after her husband Henry II's untimely death. The king's sons were expected to take over for their father, but there were others who also sought the throne of France. Henry II's first two sons proved unable to satisfactorily fulfill the office of king, and Henry's third son, Henry III, ultimately found himself at odds with his friend, the Protestant Henry of Navarre, and his enemy, the Catholic Henry Duke of Guise, for the throne. So Henry had the Duke of Guise and his brother Louis, assassinated in order to reduce those odds. The tiers (Dominicans) sent a friar to murder Henry III in order to avenge de Guise's death. The murder plot was successful, but in the end, it was Henry of Navarre who eventually inherited the throne of France, and these brutal murders caused great dissention between the de Medici's of Florence and their political rivals in Genoa.
NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #4-68
In a place very close, not far from Venice,
En l'an bien proche non esloigne de Venus,
The two (agree to) expand into Asia & Africa
Les deux plus grans de Asia & Afrique
From the the Rhine, & that Hitler will now speak for Venice.
Du Rhin & Hister qu'on dira sont Venus.

This is another quatrain containing Nostradamus' famous wordplay on Adolf Hitler's name, combining the words "Hitler" and "Ister", giving both Hitler's name and place of origin (Ister was the Latin name for the Danube). In this quatrain Nostradamus tells us about a secret meeting that took place between Hitler and Benito Mussolini on June 2nd, 1940 at the Brenner Pass near Venice to discuss Italy's formal entrance into the Second World War. It was agreed at this meeting that Mussolini would declare war on Britain and France, and initiate an African campaign. Hitler would then sign the Tripartite Treaty with the Japanese, extending the war into Asia. Just over a week later on June 10th, 1940, Italian forces began their attacks on Malta and the Ligurian coast of France.

Selim II, at peace with the monarchy of Italy,
Selin monarque l'Italie pacifique,
His kingdoms united with the King of the christian world;

The Ottoman sultan Selim II, after ending Arab piracy in the Mediterranean Sea and making peace with the Christian world, was finally granted permission to be buried in the blessed soil of the Cathedral of Saint Sophia, where his mausoleum still stands today.

The elder sister of the British Isles,
La soeur aisnee de l'isle Britannique,
Fifteen years before her brother shall be born;
Quinze ans devant le frere aura naissance;
Because of her promised method of establishment,
