Most scientists and academics still refuse to believe it is possible for man to see into the future. America's schoolteachers are teaching their pupils that it is not scientifically possible for anyone to see through time. If it is indeed not possible for man to see through time, then are we also by implication teaching our children that the prophets of the Bible are the authors of false gospel? This battle between science and religion has been going on for a very long time. It might be possible that the prophecies of the modern Jewish prophet Nostradamus could eventually shed some light on this controversial issue. Here are a few more prophecies from Chapter 8 of the Centuries that may also be related to real historical occurrences:

Pax Ney Loron will create more fire and blood,

In Quatrain #8-1 we find Nostradamus' clever anagram "Pax Ney Loron" (Peace Not Bound). This anagram produces "Napolyon Rex" (Napoleon the Emperor). It was Napoleon (GR. Napollyon - the Destroyer) who finally ended the peace in Europe. This quatrain describes a famous incident that occurred in August of 1794, when Napoleon was arrested and imprisoned at Ft. Carres in Antibes as he was returning to France from a military campaign in Genoa, Italy. In Paris, the famous Robespierre had just been overthrown, and the revolutionaries were worried that Napoleon might be a Robespierre supporter. Napoleon's fame however, had spread all over the continent, and it was impossible for them to hold him for very long. Ten days later, Napoleon was released from prison. There are some people who think that the Emperor Napoleon may have been an Antichrist.

In Quatrain #8-33 Nostradamus here records the birth of the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, born in northeastern Italy near Venice to a poor family whose "undignified" surname means "donkey". Mussolini's father was a devout anarchist who hated the Catholic Church and all capitalist governments. He named his son "Benito" in honor of the Mexican revolutionary, Benito Juarez. Young Benito followed in his father's footsteps to ultimately fulfill his father's dream of destroying the power of the Catholic Church in Italy, and replacing it with a socialist fascist state.

The blood of the Just, through a papal bull

For his vengeance against the Hungarians;

At the new lake (Geneva) they will plunge into the mix,

There is a famous story told about the prophet Nostradamus that describes an incident where he bows down to kiss the robes of a young Franciscan friar at a local town well, declaring him to be a pope. This young friar named Felice Peretti, is destined to become Pope Sixtus V. Quatrain #8-40 describes this pope's efforts in Hungary (Saturnia) to expell the Ottoman army from the southern (Albanian) region of Hungary. Pope Sixtus V figures prominently in many other Nostradamus prophecies as well.

Around 1590 the religious dogma of the Catholic Church under Pope Urban VII had finally led to a Protestant Revolution in France. After the unexpected death of King Henry II, the Catholic Church plotted to poison the two older brothers of Henry III in order to gain the French throne. Two Dominican friars were sent to France armed with snake venom to carry out the poisonings. When Henry III found out that his two older brothers had been poisoned by the Catholics, he ordered the death of the Catholic candidate for the throne, Henry de Guise. The Catholics then responded by sending yet another Dominican friar to fatally stab Henry III. As a result of this "War of the Three Henries," the Protestant sympathizer, Henry of Navarre, was finally seated on the throne of France. Henry, a native of Pau, was forced to make many concessions to his Catholic subjects in order to maintain peace in his nation.

From a simple soldier, he shall obtain an empire,

Forceful at arms, and increasingly harsh upon the church,

Rising quickly up through the ranks, Napoleon Buonaparte moved from the short robe of a simple soldier to the long robe of an emperor of France. His progress toward ultimately attaining the throne of France was hastened by his looting of the rich coffers of the Catholic Church. The revolutionaries in France were badly in need of money to finance their military efforts against the Royalist forces opposing the socialist takeover of the nation.

After the unexpected death of France's King Henry II, the Catholic Church saw an opportunity to seat its candidate, the Duke de Guise, on the now vacant French throne. The king's widow and queen, Catherine de Medici however, was just as determined to seat her son on his father's throne. She therefore hurriedly set out for the Notheastern provinces of France where the Protestants held power, and there she successfully seated her son on the French throne as Francis II. The pope sent his friars down into the ancient catacombs to examine the old Roman Ulpian code governing the succession of Royalty. The church then successfully campaigned to appoint the Duke de Guise and his brother Louis, Cardinal of Lorraine, as regents to handle the day-to-day operations of the government.

The year 1607 marked the end of astrology as an accepted science in Europe. Before this time, astrologers were employed by the Catholic Church and most of Europe's monarchies, serving as an official part of the spiritual order. It wasn't possible to pursue any important task unless the court astrologers were first consulted on the matter. But in 1607 the new science of astronomy replaced the older science of astrology, and many Protestant religious groups began to hunt down and persecute court astrologers. Many of the greatest minds of the time, including Johannes Kepler, Sir Francis Bacon, John Dee, and many others, decided to go underground with their studies of the mystical heritage of mankind, thus giving a boost to the secret societies of the Masons, Philo-Israel, the Rosicrucions, the Illuminati, and others. The invention of the telescope had suddenly turned the ancient science of "astrology" into the modern science of "astronomy".

In 1653, for the first time in British history, a commoner named Oliver Cromwell was allowed to attain the throne of England. Cromwell was a British military leader who took control of England after the beheading of King Charles I. But Cromwell was such a cruel and inept leader that Nostradamus compares him to the Roman Emperor Macellinus (Macrinus), also of low birth, known for extreme cruelty to his slaves. In 1660 the Monarchy was finally restored, and Cromwell's body was exhumed to be hung on chains for all England to view.

Around the year 1568, Spain experiences religious warfare taking place all over Europe. King Philip II of Spain is the ruling Catholic monarch at the time. Spain witnesses rebellions in Italy and the Netherlands against the iron fist of the Catholic Church. A tax rebellion occurs in the Netherlands, and Phillip is forced to send the Duke of Alba, Alessandro Farnese, to Holland with the Spanish Armada in order to quell the Protestant rebellion.

Entering Bayonne, opposed at Saint Jean de Lux,
Entree Bayonne, a faint a Saint Jean de Lux,
Will advance the War of the Peninsula;
Sera pose de Mars le Promontoire;
But through vexation by Russia, they will by no means capture the prize,

Then suffocating the (French) encampment without assistance.

By the winter of 1812-1813, the War of the Peninsula (in Spain) between Napoleon's Marshal Soult and England's Duke of Wellington, had fallen back to Bayonne and Saint Jean de Lux in France. Napoleon borrowed 30,000 men from Soult to assist him in his invasion of Russia. But the war effort was suddenly ended when Napoleon's forces were totally defeated by the Russians at the Battle of Moscow.
