DID NOSTRADAMUS PREDICT HITLER?

    This was the first website to correctly translate the 9-11 quatrain, and also the first website to accurately translate the famous May 10th earthquake quatrain.  Nostradamus originally recorded 1200 quatrains in his famous book "The Centuries," but only 949 have survived into modern times.  Chapter 2 contains the famous "Hister" and "mabus" quatrains, and also describes the horror of the WWII bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-6

   Near the harbors & within two cities,

   Apres des portes & dedans deux cites,

   There will be two catastrophes & the like of which never seen;

   Seront deux fleaux & oncques n'apperceu un tel;

   Intense in torment, by a bomb (incalculable) human lives are ended,

   Faim dedans peste, de fer hors gens boutes,

   Cries for help from the great God immortal.

   Crier secours au grand Dieu immortel.

   Quatrain #2-6 In August 1945, near the end of WWII, America dropped two nuclear bombs on the twin Japanese harbor cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  Nostradamus describes the incredible horror and loss of life that accompanied these twin bombings that marked the end of the military exploits of the Empire of Japan.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-10

   Before long, all things will be controlled,

   Avant longtemps le tout sera range,

   We shall experience a time very sinister;

   Nous esperons un seicle bien senestre;

   The status of artists & their independence greatly changes,

   L'estat de masques & des seuls bien change,

   Few will be found who will want to be in their place.

   Peu trouveront qu'a son rang vueille estre.

   Quatrain #2-10 During the German occupation of France in WWII, the formerly independent expression of artists and performers was closely controlled by the Nazi propaganda machine, and made to serve the National Socialist (NAZI) agenda.   Any artists, entertainers, or members of the media who refused to cooperate, were swiftly rounded up and shipped off to the concentration camps.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-13

   The body without a soul can no longer be sacrificed,

   Le corps sans ame n'estre en sacrifice,

   The day of death is a day of rebirth;

   Jour de la mort mis en nativite;

   The divine spirit will make the soul joyful,

   L'esprit divin fera l'ame felice,

   Witnessing the Holy Word in its eternity.

   Voiant le Verbe en son eternite.

   Quatrain #2-13 This is one of the most interesting of all Nostradamus' prophecies.  It is his statement on death.  The great prophet believed that man is born once of water (from the womb), and then once again of the spirit (at the moment of death) (JOHN 3:5).

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-16

   In Naples, Palermo, Sicily, and Syracuse,

   Naples, Palerme, Sicille, Syracuses,

   New violence, and fiery explosions in the skies;

   Nouveaux tyrans fulgures feux celestes;

   Forces from London move into Ghent, Brussels, & Switzerland,

   Force de Londres, Gand, Brucelles, & Suses,

   Great slaughter, then triumph, festive celebrations.

   Grand hecatombe, triomphe, faire festes.

   Quatrain #2-16 As Allied forces enter Europe during WWII, troops in the south recapture Naples, Palermo and Syracuse in Italy, while troops from England in the north liberate Ghent, Brussels, and Switzerland.  As allied soldiers enter each European population center, they are greeted by festive celebrations on the part of the citizens of each town, who are overjoyed to finally be freed from NAZI domination.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-22

   The UNDERSEA army of Europe will depart,

   Le camp ASOP d'Europe partira,

   They will join up near the isles submerged;

   S'adjoignant proche de l'isle submerge;

   The troubled fleet will form a phalange,

   D'arton classe phalange pliera,

   The navies of the world now viewed as more vulnerable.

   Nombril du monde plus grand voix subrogee.

   Quatrain #2-22 At the beginning of WWII, the world's navies had no effective defense against the German submarine fleets that were able to attack allied shipping with complete impunity.  When a shipping convoy was spotted, its location was radioed to German fleet headquaters.  German submarines then gathered at that location to attack the ship convoy en mass.  The only defense the allies had was to form their ships into phalanges with the less valuable ships on the outside rows acting as sacrificial vessels.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-24

   Wildmen, ferocious with anger, crossover rivers.

   Bestes farouches de faim fleuves tranner.

   The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hitler;

   Plus part du champ encontre Hister sera;

   In armor of steel the great (army) will make the assault,

   En caige de fer le grande fera treisner,

   When the child of Germany shall heed no one.

   Quand rien enfant de Germain observera.

   Quatrain #2-24 This prophecy contains Nostradamus' famous wordplay on the name of Adolf Hitler.  Nostradamus combines "Hitler" with "Ister," thus supplying us with both Hitler's name and place of origin (Ister was the Latin name for the Danube).  Allied soldiers, fed up with the war, finally invade German soil, but Hitler, like an angry child, refuses to heed the advice of his generals to surrender.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-28

   The next to the last of the surname of prophet,

   Le penultiesme du surnom de prophete,

   Will take Friday for his day of rest;

   Prendra Diane pour son jour & repos;

   He will wander far because of his frenetic thoughts,

   Loing vaguera par frenetique teste,

   And shall deliver to a great people, the impossible.

   Un delivrant un grand peuple d'impos.

   Quatrain #2-28 Nostradamus, like most Jews, began his Sabbath "day of rest" on Friday at dusk.  In this quatrain he refers to himself as "the next to the last of the surname of prophet", telling us that we may expect one more prophet to arrive on Earth before the time of the end.  Apparently his ability to see into the future caused him much anxiety, as he viewed the fate of men suffering the vengeance of a God they continually refused to obey.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-51

   The blood of the just in London shall be demanded,

   Le sang de juste a Londres fera faulte,

   Burned by flames in '66;

   Brusles par fouldres de vint trois les six;

   The ancient city will seek to be a safer place,

   La dame antique cherra de place haute,

   Many of the same (suspected) sect will be killed.

   Des mesme secte plusiers seront occis.

   Quatrain #2-51 This quatrain describes the great Fire of London that occurred in the year 1666, destroying nearly 80 percent of the old walled city, and the fate of the many Dutchmen, who were blamed for setting the fire and murdered in the streets in retaliation.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-62

   Mabus then quickly at this time will commit (mass) murder, there will come

   Mabus puis tost alors mourra, viendra

   Upon men & beasts, one horrible fate;

   Des gens & bestes, une horrible defaite;

   Then one shall see a coup of vengeance upon all,

   Puis tout a coup la vengence on verra,

   There is a great taking (of lives), thirst, anger, when the comet shall pass.

   C'et main, soif, faim, quand courra la comete.

   Quatrain #2-62 Nostradamus uses another of his famous wordgames to describe a minor antichrist named "mabus" which, when held up to a mirror, produces "sudam".  And it is indeed the evil Suddam Hussein who will visit a horrible fate upon men and beasts during his Anfal campaign in 1986 (at the passing of Halley's Comet), by employing the use of mass executions and chemical weapons.  It is interesting to note Nostradamus' mention of "thirst," which is a marked symptom of chemical poisoning.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-64

   Suffering from hunger, from thirst, the men of Geneva,

   Seicher de faim, de soif, gent Genevoise,

   Hope held close, will turn to despair

   Espoir prochain viendra au defaillir

   On the thought that they will be under the rule of Holland (by Spain);

   Sur point tremblant sera loi Gebenoise;

   The fleet is not welcomed in the great harbor.

   Classe au grand port ne se peult accueillir.

   Quatrain #2-64 The Catholic king, Philip II of Spain, refuses to give up his low countries (Holland) to the Protestants.  The Calvinist Protestants in Geneva are in a panic when the Spanish Armada suddenly shows up in the Dutch harbor in 1664.  This naval blockade effectively shuts off food supplies and other vital goods to most of northeastern Europe.  Geneva now fears it will fall under the control of a Spanish-ruled Holland.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-72

   The French army in Italy halted,

   Armee Celtique en Italie vexee,

   In all places conflict & great trouble;

   De toutes pars conflict & grand perte;

   The Italians retreating, repulsed by the French,

   Romans fuis, Gaule repoulse,

   Near the banks of the Rubicon, an uncertain battle.

   Pres du Thesin Rubican pugne incerte.

   Quatrain #2-72 As one of the most important events in history, Julius Caesar successfully crosses the Rubicon River, which was against Roman law at the time.   Ever since that time, every emperor in history has tried to duplicate that feat.   Napoleon's army symbolically crosses the Rubicon River on its way from Bologna to Ancona during Napoleon's Fourth Italian Campaign.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-75

   The call is heard of a loud bird (a vulture),

   La voix ouye l'insulit,

   Over the roar of the cannons;

   Sur le canon du respiral estage;

   So high (in price) will rise a bushel of wheat,

   Si haut viendra de froment le bousseau,

   That man by man shall be cannibalized.

   Que l'homme d'homme sera antropophage.

   Quatrain #2-75 In 1815 the world experiences "The Year Without a Summer," as Napoleon returns from exile to once again lead the French army in a desperate attempt to regain his throne.  But God steps in as a huge volcano in the Dutch East Indies suddenly explodes, sending a cloud of volcanic ash high up into Earth's atmosphere.  This weather anomaly results in crop losses, food riots, widespread starvation, and even human cannibalism in France.  With no food, Napoleon's weakened army suffers a great defeat at the battle of Waterloo.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-87

   Later, shall come from distant lands,

   Apres, viendra des extremes contrees,

   A German prince upon a guilded throne,

   Prince Germain dessus le throsne dore,

   Whose servitude & sustinence falls in with others;

   La servitude & eaux rencontrees;

   The lady's service, her times, no longer adored.

   La dame servue, son temps plus n'adore.

   Quatrain #2-75 Britain's Protestant Queen Anne, last of the Stuarts, is succeeded by the German Protestant king, George I, of the new Hanover line.  George I falls in with others who seek to limit the power of the king.  George institutes a cabinet form of goverment in England.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #2-97

   The Roman Pontiff guards against their approach

   Romain Pontife gardede de t'approcher

   To the city that two rivers flow through;

   De la cite de deux fleuves arrouse;

   Their blood will come near to being spilled,

   Ton sang viendra aupres de la cracher,

   Thee & thine, when the rose shall bloom.

   Toy & les tiens, quand fleurira la rose.

   Quatrain #2-97 In 1796 Napoleon begins his Italian Campaign, invading Italy through the city of Turin (that two rivers flow through).  By 1798 it is apparent to the Pope that Napoleon's invasion is unstoppable.  The Pope then decides not to resist Napoleon's army in order to prevent damage to the holy city.
