As the latest of the 500-year Hebrew prophets, Nostradamus wrote about the period of world history from 1555 to 2055 A.D. This website did not participate in the "end of the world" foolishness of 2011 and 2012, since we already knew that the world as we know it was still going to be around until at least the year 2055 (but unfortunately not very long afterwards). The following are a few more Nostradamus quatrains containing specific references to actual historical events. A new quatrain will be added to this website at the rate of one quatrain per month, until all the quatrains have been completely revealed. The prophecies from Chapter 2 of the Centuries also seem to be related to true historical events, and therefore fly in the face of those who continue to insist that the prophecies of Nostradamus have no basis in actual fact.

Near the harbors & within two cities,
Apres des portes & dedans deux cites,
There will be two catastrophes & the like of which never seen;

In August of 1945, near the end of WWII, the United States dropped two nuclear bombs on the twin Japanese harbor cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Here Nostradamus describes for us the incredible horror and loss of human life that accompanied these twin bombings marking the end of the military exploits of the empire of Japan.

During the WWII German occupation of France, the former independent expression of artists and performers was now closely controlled by the Nazi propaganda machine and made to serve the government's national socialist agenda. Any artists, entertainers, and members of the media who refused to cooperate were swiftly hunted down and shipped off to Nazi concentration camps.

This is one of the most intriguing of all Nostradamus' prophecies. It is his statement on death. The great prophet believed that man is born once of water ( from the womb), and then once again of the spirit ( at the moment of death). (John 3:5).

As Allied forces entered Europe during World War II, troops in the south recaptured Naples, Palermo and Syracuse in Italy, while troops from England in the north liberated Ghent, Brussels, and Switzerland. As the allied troops entered each European population center, they were greeted by festive celebrations on the part of the citizenry of every town, who were overjoyed to finally be freed from Nazi domination.

At the beginning of WWII the navies of the world suddenly fell victim to the submarine wolf-packs of Adolf Hitler. The allies had no effective defense against the onslaught of the German submarine fleets that were able to attack allied shipping with complete impunity. When a shipping convoy was spotted, its location was radioed to Fleet Headquaters. A message was then sent to all German submarines in the area to meet at a set location and attack the shipping convoy en mass. The only defense the allies had was to form their ships into phalanges with the less valuable ships on the outside rows acting as sacrificial vessels, thus protecting the more valuable ships in the center of the convoy.

The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hitler;

This prophecy contains another one of Nostradamus' famous wordgames used to disguise the names of famous people. Nostradamus cleverly combines "Hitler" with "Ister" (Ister was the ancient Latin name for the Danube River) thus supplying us with both Hitler's name and place of origin. This quatrain describes the WWII armored allied invasion of Germany, and the actions of a madman who, like a stubborn child, refused to heed the advice of his generals to surrender. Hitler ultimately committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. The charred body of his double was left for the allies to find.

The next to the last of the surname of prophet,

He will wander far because of his frenetic thoughts,

Nostradamus, like most Jews, began his Sabbath (Day of Rest) on Friday at dusk. In this quatrain Nostradamus refers to himself as "the next to the last of the surname of prophet", telling us that we should expect one more prophet to arrive here on Earth before the time of the end. Apparently his ability to look into the future caused him much anxiety as he viewed the sad fate of men suffering the vengeance of a God they continually refused to obey.

The blood of the just in London shall be demanded,

This quatrain describes the great Fire of London that occurred in 1666, destroying nearly 80 percent of the old walled city, and the fate of the many Dutchmen who were blamed for setting the fire, and murdered in the streets in retaliation.

Nostradamus here uses another of his famous wordgames to describe a minor antichrist named "mabus," which, when held up to a mirror, produces the name "sudam". And indeed it is the evil Suddam Hussein who will bring a horrific fate upon both men and beasts during his Anfal campaign, begun in 1986 (at the passing of Halley's Comet), by employing the use of mass execution and chemical weapons in horrible acts of vengeance upon his many enemies. It is interesting to note Nostradamus' reference to "thirst," which is a marked symptom of chemical poisoning. Although Suddam is quickly eliminated, his evil acts will lead America into a war in the Middle East from which it will not be able to extricate itself.

Suffering from hunger & thirst, the men of Geneva,

Hope held close, will turn to despair;

The Catholic king, Philip II of Spain, refuses to give up the "low countries" of the Netherlands to the Protestants. The Calvinist Protestants in Geneva are in great fear when the Spanish Armada suddenly shows up in the great harbor at Holland in 1664. This naval blockade effectively shuts off much of the necessary supplies of food and other vital goods to most of northeastern Europe.

As Napoleon attempts to return from exile, God apparently decides to step in. On a remote island in the Dutch East Indies, Mount Tambora suddenly erupts, causing a great cloud of volcanic ash to alter the weather, inducing a global famine. As Napoleon's war continues, farm crops are destroyed and there are food riots in France. Many people are starving, and cases of human cannibalism are reported as people desparately try to survive.

In 1796 Napoleon begins his Italian Campaign, invading Italy through the city of Turin that two rivers flow through. By the year 1798 it becomes apparent to the Pope that Napoleon's invasion is unstoppable.
