Every month we will add a new Nostradamus quatrain to this website until all the quatrains are complete. Our featured prophecy for the month of February, 2012 is Quatrain # 8-81 from Nostradamus' famous book the Centuries. Each new prophecy represents one more link in the great chain that forms the history of mankind. The quatrains of Nostradamus cover the period of history from 1555 to 2055 A.D., describing in great detail many previously unrevealed events in world history that have eluded historians for many decades. In these mysterious four-line poems, Nostradamus reveals to us the truth behind some of the world's greatest mysteries. We can now know the fate of the so-called "Lost Dauphine" (the son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette), and solve the mystery of why king Francis II died so young on the French throne. Our spiritual leaders tell us that in the Last Days all such hidden truths will finally be revealed to mankind. Could it be that the Last Days are finally upon us? This month's quatrain adds one more piece to the complex puzzle of human destiny:

The new empire in desolation,

Nostradamus describes the turmoil going on in Europe during the period of the Protestant Reformation, and specifically during the reign of Phillip II of Spain. Philip was the ruling Catholic monarch at the time, and was desperately trying to control civil uprisings in Holland and Sicily against the iron fist of the Catholic Church.
The Dutch were refusing to pay their taxes, and Phillip was forced to send The Duke of Parma, Alessandro Farnese, to the Netherlands in order to control the Protestant situation in this northern satellite nation. The English Anglican Church was also deeply involved in the Protestant movement on the European continent, and the English people were supporting the Dutch against the Spanish. The English fleet would ultimately defeat the Spanish Armada in 1588, striking a serious blow to the power of the Catholic Church in Europe.
