Who is the second beast, or second antichrist, described in Revelation Chapter 13? As the last of the biblical beasts to haunt the Earth, this modern-day antichrist pretended to be the biblical Messiah. He promised to lead his many followers into a perfect society that would last for a thousand years. He conquered many nations under the sign of a cross that he'd borrowed from the walls of a Benedictine monastery he'd attended as a child. He conquered many nations by offering peace to those who would submit to him, and war to those who would not. He spread his lies through a man-made idol having the power of speech, and sent anyone refusing to listen to it off to a horrible death. He possessed weapons of war capable of raining down fire from the sky onto his enemies in far away cities, and he marked those who bought and sold in the marketplace by placing identifying numbers on their arms and heads. His evil fantasy was eventually brought to a ruinous end, but not before he'd caused more death and destruction than any previous world conqueror.
As leader of the eighth empire to oppress mankind, this antichrist conducted the most sinister and systematic of all campaigns to destroy God's Hebrews.
